Subaru embarks on STI push with NY performance concept
TOKYO -- Subaru took the wraps off its STI Performance Concept today at the New York auto show, previewing the brand’s expanding focus on tuner parts and performance editions.
The concept, based loosely on the body of the Subaru BRZ sporty coupe, encapsulates both Subaru Tecnica International’s parts and motorsports activities.
On the parts side, the car is decked out in STI carbon-fiber aerodynamic components including a rear spoiler. It also gets STI-tuned chassis, body and air intake-exhaust systems.
Under the hood, it showcases the engine Subaru deploys in Japan’s Super GT racing circuit: a horizontally opposed 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, double-overhead-camshaft, 16-valve turbocharged unit, generating 345 hp. Even though the concept is a turbo, Subaru says it has no plans for a turbo BRZ production model.
Toyota propels hydrogen fuel cells
The announcement was made at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. It comes as Toyota prepares to launch the hydrogen-powered Mirai in a limited number late this year in California. The launch will be extended to the Northeastern United States next year. Toyota also has announced plans to support networks of fueling stations in each region to try to smooth consumer adoption. The Mirai has a 300-mile range on a tank of hydrogen, and it takes about five minutes to refill.
Toyota's patent giveaway seems to put it at a competitive disadvantage, or at least levels the playing field. But Lindsay notes there is very little competition right now, and without other players, hydrogen will never gain acceptance by consumers or get a viable infrastructure. By offering access to others, like suppliers, Toyota is actually supporting its own investment in hydrogen.

BMW Experience Tour 2015 now in India
BMW has launched the second edition of BMW Experience Tour in Kolkata. After Kolkata, the tour will reach Raipur, Surat, Ahmedabad, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Indore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Lucknow.
Customers will get to drive the BMW 1-series, BMW 3-series, BMW 5-series and the BMW 7-series, as well as put these vehicles through a series of braking, slalom, corner braking and fast lap exercises. Mercedes Benz launched AMG GT'S 10 th model
The hottest of all AMGs will be launched in India . The Mercedes-AMG GT S sportscar is the more powerful version of the AMG GT and takes over the baton from the highly successful SLS AMG. The GT S goes up against the Porsche 911 and the Jaguar F-Type.
The Mercedes-AMG GT S has been entirely developed by the AMG division and employs an all-new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 mill in a compact arrangement. This potent engine produces peak power of 510 PS at 6250 rpm and 650 Nm of torque between 1750 to 4750 rpm. All that power and torque lights up the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The AMG GT S can do the 0-100kmph sprint in just 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 310kmph. It’s not just outright acceleration that the GT S is good for though. Mercedes-AMG has done a splendid job to give the GT that handling prowess to rub shoulders with a 911.
The AMG GT S gets an aluminium space frame with independent double-wishbone suspension all round and adjustable damping as standard. Dry sump lubrication, ceramic brakes, forged wheels, dynamically adjusting engine and transmission mounts further make the AMG GT S track worthy.
The styling of the AMG GT will be a big draw too. The tapered front and rear bumpers give more than a peak of the tyres when viewed straight up. What adds to this muscular stance is the SLS AMG inspired wide haunches. The lights of the AMG GT aren’t the best part of the design though.
The best angle to view the AMG GT is definitely side-on. The tiny bubbled roof slopes in smoothly to the rear almost as neatly as the gorgeous Jaguar F-type and that’s saying something.

McLaren unveils Honda-powered MP4-30
The silver, red and black car features a long low nose without the thumb extension seen on the Williams - and a tightly packaged rear end around the new power unit. It also features a split roll-hoop inlet.
Honda is returning to F1 after a six-year absence, and is renewing a relationship with McLaren that delivered multiple wins and world titles from 1988 to 1992.

The Chakan-based bike maker claims that the Pulsar RS200 can record a maximum speed of 141kmph. While it does weight 165kg, it also has a bump in the power and torque over the naked Pulsar 200NS. Moreover, the fairing and the aerodynamics most definitely have a part to play.

Next-gen BMW 5-series to be unveiled at Paris motor show 2016
BMW is set to unveil the next-generation of its luxury sedan, the BMW 5-series, at the Paris motor show 2016. The new car will get a more streamlined styling as compared to the current car, and will share technology with the new 7-series that made its debut internationally earlier this year.
The new 5-series will get a more prominent kidney grille with dynamic louvers that open and close as per cooling requirement, optional laser headlamps, more pronounced shoulders, LED tail-lamps and a sleeker profile with a more heavily raked rear windshield. The new 5-series will also be based on the new platform, codenamed OKL, that was introduced on the new 7-series. The car will also be around 100kg lighter due to the use of carbon fibre, magnesium, aluminium and high-tensile steel.
On the inside, the dashboard is expected to be designed like the one on the new 7-series with the same basic architecture multi-function steering wheel, switchgear and material materials. The dashboard will also feature an all-digital instrument cluster and a free-standing infotainment display.
Powering the car will be a family of 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines in varying states of tune: the 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines including a quad-turbo diesel in the M550d, the 444bhp 4.4-litre V8 from the new 7-series, plug-in hybrid powertrains from the new 7-series and X5 and the range-topping 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 for the M5. The car will come with the choice of a six-speed manual or a nine-speed automatic gearbox on the standard models, while the M5 will continue with the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic from the current model.
In terms of technology, the new 5-series will get the latest iDrive system with a new touchpad and touchscreen, gesture control with sensors to monitor five different hand movements, voice recognition and functions such as swipe and pinch to zoom. The car will also come with autonomous driving tech such as autonomous emergency braking, hands-off operation and anti-collision systems.
The new 5-series will be available in three body styles – sedan, Touring and GT . The sedan is the one that will make its debut at the Paris motor show. There is no confirmation as yet as to the launch dates of the other two models, though they are expected sometime in 2017.
Kawasaki Versys 1000 launched in India
The recently updated Versys 1000 now comes with smarter-looking horizontal headlights, with an air vent tucked away between them. This updated Versys 1000 competes against the Suzuki V-Strom.
The Kawasaki Versys 1000 is powered by a 1043cc, four-stroke, liquid-cooled, in-line four cylinder and fuel-injected engine.
There’s a DOHC and four-valve per cylinder head on the new Kawasaki Versys. Peak torque of 10.4kgm is produced at 7,500rpm on this big bike.
Long stroke, fat USD forks up front and a long travel monoshock suspension at rear ensure the Versys has high ground clearance. To help halt the 249kg Versys 1000, Kawasaki has provided ABS equipped twin petal disc brakes in front and a single disc brake at the rear. Kawasaki also equips its Versys 1000 with a slipper clutch system and traction control.

Suzuki will launch New Vitara next year
The new Suzuki Vitara is set to go on sale early next year. Suzuki says that they will make it official that it will go into production at the brand’s production facility in Hungary during the same period. New Vitara will be powered by either the 1.6-litre petrol/Diesel engine. While the petrol will get a 5-speed manual gearbox but Diesel will get 6-speed manual Gearbox.
The Vitara will be available in both two and four wheel drive configurations. As for safety, Suzuki has revealed that the vehicle will come with various safety aids such as ESP, adaptive cruise control and brake assist with automatic braking besides ABS and airbags.
McLaren Revealed New 650S special edition
The McLaren 650S Le Mans special edition also gets special 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels styled after the ones installed on the Le Mans-winning F1 GTR and are wrapped around in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres. The look is completed by standard carbon ceramic brakes matched with orange calipers.
The 650S Le Mans edition features metallic Sarthe Grey finish, a roof snorkel, re-designed front bumper and unique wheels as part of its package. The roof snorkel is said to channel airflow to the unchanged 3.8-litre twin turbocharged V8 engine that sits behind the driver.
Rolls-Royce unveil two new Special Edition models in Dubai
Along with the Middle East unveil of the new Dawn and the Wraith “Inspired by Music,” the BMW-owned British marquee introduced the Phantom Coupe Tiger and Ghost Golf Edition, two special editions that will appeal to those who desire to make their already-stunning bespoke machines stand out even more.
First up is the Rolls-Royce Ghost Golf. Built at the behest of AGMC, Rolls’ local importer in the UAE, the Golf edition "takes its inspiration from the fairways to appeal to discerning sportsmen, incorporating design cues and materials that evoke the history of this gentleman's sport.” It took more than two years to be realised by a team craftspeople at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, England, and features a paint combination of Brooklands Green and Desert Dune that is designed to resonate with Dubai’s green golf courses set against the majestic background of the surrounding Arabian sands.

Mahindra launches XUV500 variant at Rs 14.48 lakh in India
The 'XUV500 Xclusive Edition', comes with various features including electric sunroof, reverse camera and voice messaging system.
Commenting on the launch, Mahindra & Mahindra Chief Marketing Officer - Automotive Division - Vivek Nayer said the company has launched the model based on the feedback received from the customers.
The XUV500 Xclusive Edition will be available on the W8 model of the XUV500 and the company would produce only 700 vehicles of this limited edition.

Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 launched with two new colours at Rs 1.17 lakh in India

Mitsubishi's 2016 iMiev will remain cheapest electric car, starting at $22,995
The tiny four-seater starts at $22,995, the same as the previous model year. With a $7,500 federal tax credit, the price drops to $15,495.
Standard features include heated front seats, remote keyless entry and an eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty on the battery pack.
The iMiev was introduced in 2011. Two years later, Mitsubishi dropped its price by $5,000 to ensure it would be cheaper than newer entries like the electric Chevrolet Spark.
But the car hasn't been a big seller. Mitsubishi sold 196 iMievs in the U.S. last year, down 81 percent from the previous year. By comparison, Nissan sold more than 30,000 electric Leaf sedans.
Vintage cars, motorbikes head out for the 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally in Delhi, Gurgaon
Over 220 rare cars and 7 period two-wheelers were paraded on the 52-km-long route from Delhi to Gurgaon as part of the fifth edition of the two-day '21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally' that kicked off from the historic Red Fort.
Finest automobiles from Ford Galaxy to Studebaker and 1929 Rolls Royce Tourer and 1928 Morris to 1936 Daimler Sports Coupe and 1947 Cadillac, among others, competed for people's attention and wowed them in equal measure.

The Aventador LP750-4 SV – standing for Super Veloce (Italian for Super Fast) – has dropped 50kg in weight and gained an extra 49bhp, making this high-revving turbo-less V12 monster a truly exhilarating machine. Thanks to its lashings of carbon fibre, the LP750-4 now weighs in at a reasonable 1,525kg, but punches out a whopping 740bhp at a spine-tingling 8,400rpm, giving well-heeled drivers an old-school supercar feel.
With its tweaked 6.5-litre motor, crash diet and optimised aerodynamics, this new Lamborghini now sprints to 62mph in a rapid 2.8 seconds (down from 2.9 seconds), and is capable of hitting 'more than 217mph', reports Autocar. The SV shares its seven-speed automated manual gearbox with the standard car, though it gains an even more musical exhaust, with four central pipes gracing the rear of the car.
The SV also retains the Aventador's four-wheel drive system and driving modes set up for road, fast road and track driving, which adjust engine, transmission and four-wheel drive settings. Helping to confirm its position as a very serious driving machine, the SV includes carbon fibre wings, interior trim and bucket seats, with carpets and noise insulation all being ditched in the name of weight saving. The multimedia system has also been binned to slash weight, though owners can reinstate it at no extra cost.
With 20-inch wheels at the front, 21-inch wheels at the back and an adjustable rear wing, downforce – and the resultant extra grip – should not be in short supply. Thankfully carbon ceramic brakes are also standard to provide sufficient muscle to contain the tuned engine. Prices are yet to be confirmed, but suffice it to say, this Lambo is firmly in 'if-you-have-to-ask-you-can't-afford-it' territory, with an expected price tag of around £300,000.
