Mercedes-Benz SLK updated internationally
Mercedes-Benz has revised its SLK roadster in international markets.
The SLK now gets Euro 6 compliant four-cylinder engines and an optional nine-speed automatic gearbox for select variants.
The SLK 200’s 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (M271) is replaced by a newer unit (M274) that delivers 181bhp and 30.55kgm of torque. The power is transferred to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The company claims that the car is now 0.4 seconds faster in the 0-100kph sprint with a time of 6.9 seconds.
The petrol line-up sees the introduction of the SLK 300 in place of the SLK 250. The SLK 300 uses the same enginereduce emissions. This sole diesel SLK comes with a nine-speed automatic transmission as standard.
The other engines in the Mercedes SLK line-up remain unchanged. The SLK 350 and the SLK 55 AMG continue to sport the same 3.5-litre V6 petrol and 5.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 generating 302bhp and 415bhp, respectively. as the updated SLK 200 but with an increased power of 242bhp and 37.74kgm of torque. The SLK 300 receives a nine-speed automatic transmission as standard and the company claims that the car achieves a 0-100kph sprint time of 5.8 seconds; 0.8 seconds faster than the SLK 250.
