Mercedes-AMG GT S to be launched on November
The fifth Mercedes-AMG model to be launched in the country, the AMG GT S is also the second supercar to be developed entirely by the boffins at Mercedes’ AMG division. Pegged a notch above the standard GT, it is powered by a 3,982cc twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine producing peak power of 510 PS at 6250 rpm and 650 Nm of torque between 1750 to 4750 rpm, sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
That is good enough to propel the car from nought to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds, and on to a top speed of 304 km/h, given enough room. Quarter mile is done and dusted in a claimed 11.2 seconds.
The styling is also all-new, albeit retaining the distinctive lines of the SLS AMG that we’ve grown to love so much. And gone are the gull-wing doors, replaced by sober conventional doors. A host of driver aids are on hand, along with a new “Race” mode on the AMG Dynamic Select controller, meant to open up the exhaust valves to their full aural potential, firms up the suspension, and sharpen the engine and transmission response.
Team ZigWheels will be at the launch of the Mercedes-AMG GT S on November 24th in New Delhi. Stay tuned as we bring you pricing and availability options as and when it happens.
