Maserati to re-launch India operations on July 15
Italian car maker Maserati will officially kick off operations in India on July 15 at a press conference in New Delhi. This will be Maserati’s second innings in India after terminating its marketing agreement with official importer Shreyans Group in 2013.
The first dealership is expected to come up in Mumbai, with Ahmedabad-based Galaxy group launching the first dealership.
In all likelihood, Maserati will first launch the GranTurismo, GranCabrio and Quattroporte models. The GranTurismo and GranCabrio models will be powered by either a 4.2 litre or a 4.7 litre V8 petrol engine while the Quattroporte is available with a choice of 3.0 litre V6 and 3.8 litre V8 petrol engines, as well as a 3.0 litre V6 diesel engine.
Maserati is also likely to launch the acclaimed Ghibli sports Sedan. In global markets, the Ghibli is available with a 3.0 litre Twin Turbo V6 engine with over 330PS on tap and a whopping 500Nm of torque available at low and mid revs. The Ghibli attains 0-100 kmph in about 5.7 seconds and has a top speed of 263kmph.
The Ghibli is also available with a diesel motor – the first diesel-powered car in Maserati’s history. It is powered by a 3.0 litre V6 engine which delivers around 278PS and with a top speed of 250 kmph. The Ghibli is smaller than the Quattroporte and is likely to compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz CLS, Audi A7 and BMW 6-series Gran Coupe.
